I would like to take this opportunity to respond to a letter from the board on behalf of the " Letters to the Editor temporary "work by the Adrian Nicholson, published in the latest issue.
As a member of the organization, and we encourage free and open debate on all issues, but I believe that any debate is always fact-based strengthening. If Adrian's views are from the concerns of other members, I would like to correct some misconceptions.
First of all, most importantly, our membership authentication process changes and implementation of the CPD in the program, is a direct response from the requirements of most of our members to help improve the professional photography industry standards, and this helps We are members of the distinguished non-professional photographers, where a growing number of their own.
Photographer, Mr Sub-Committee and the Council have clearly told us that professional photography is changing.
A 2009 report IBIS World Professional Photography in Australia "to strengthen their views. A professional photographer today is very different from the form of a five years ago, let alone ten years ago. The letter from the responsibility of our members preparation, not only survive, but after today and tomorrow. CPD will be undertaken in the history of its members a letter from one of the most important measure.
If you are an existing member of the amendments approved provision does not affect you, but certainly continuing professional development. So perhaps some of how the CPD, can illuminate the history of the evolution of matter.
• certification and training programs on the needs of policy and planning have already been made in the last two years.
• Board of Directors approved the program after a long period, careful consideration and debate.
• executive director of Petersburg in 2009 created a continuing professional development framework.
• put forward the proposal in each country member of parliament in the past 5 months, the Subcommittee.
• CPD for a proposal to be included in the membership survey in 2010, and received the support of the majority (88%).
Remember CPD is a fully independent national printing awards and Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities, therefore, the status of master photographer and received APPA's Choice Award will continue to be that in future, because they are always in the past , and certainly will not be eliminated "in a pen" stroke!
The purpose of CPD is to provide five "core areas of knowledge and information", we think that is very important in 2010 as a professional photographer and beyond.
1. Photographic output - training, education and information improvemembers place to use photography output, such as printing technology and print delivery, online delivery, color management, video and audio and video processing technologies.
2. Photo input - training, education, and to improve the area and photographic input, such as lighting, camera control, composition, photography, best practices and new technologies of information handling skills of the members.
3. Photographic workflow - training, education and design post-production technology, software operation, digital asset management (dam), workflow tools and technologies to improve the skills of the members of the information.
4. Business management - training, education and to improve the region's photography business, including marketing, financial management, accounting, records, occupational health and safety requirements, optimize network and business skills information to comply with the agreement of members.
5. Personal development - training, education, and to improve areas such as goal setting, motivation, time management, communication skills, stress management skills and the members of the validity of personal information.
CPD will not involve the "commitment to education program ... unknown content and learning requirements." In fact, as already explained CPD, you participate in any calendar year, only 5 events seminars and support The core elements.CPD accreditation will ask you to 50 credits per calendar year point, which can be easily achieved in people attended the 3-day letter Nikon events, or by attending 3 day seminar, hosted by any local Parliament's letter, or certified third-party seminars and training courses.
Most of you will participate in two or three letters from the annual seminar. If you are not then the CPD program will benefit both you as an individual, your letter and the general knowledge and skills further. A letter from the CPD accreditation activities to be taken advantage of well-functioning and broad for your seminar, organized by the local State Council. You will not be asked to "jump through hoops."
Adrian is right of course there is the cost, but because most of you already know, seminars and activities of the letter is priced significantly lower than the commercial photography is usually the price level training institutions. Approved costs are currently 450 members and an annual cost of participating in professional development programs may be in another area 400. We do not think this is the cost of a member of "double that" rather than to enjoy a considerable discount as a normal commercial rates good training programs and seminars at a discount.
You can determine your business or personal situation does not need to attend seminars and activities, the letter, and you do not have a CPD or certification requirements. We recognize that this may be a number of members, which is why we have created a new membership category of "joining." A letter from members of the subsidiary is not subject to annual continuing professional education programs and maintains a member of the letters, as long as the subsidiary level, because of his or her wishes, there will be no "recognized the status of the professional photographer"
Adrian's understanding of our new and very popular "fans" in a class of problem is that I doubt completely "in the cheek," tongue. If there are "fans" I'm sure a doctor at the Royal College of Surgeons will soon become their members to welcome them!
Adrian is right, requiring a gradual implementation of CPD. This is why we have taken a cautious approach in 2011 to launch a mandatory requirement, need a letter from the three events or seminars, it is our hope that the vast majority of our members only have to do present.
Robert Edwards
Vice chairman of the letter
